Your travel notes
Stone walls meet an open horizon at Gushikawa Castle Ruins. On the coast of Kyan in Itoman, this gusuku brings southern Okinawa's history and seascape into the same view.
Excavations have uncovered objects dating from the late 12th to the mid-15th century. A hole connecting the site to the sea is also recorded. Stay within safe viewing areas rather than approaching openings, climbing walls or going near cliff edges.
For a day in southern Okinawa, consider a separate visit to Peace Memorial Park. Allow time for each stop instead of trying to fit too many places into one drive. This is a suggested pairing rather than a walking route between the two sites.
One suggested way to include this stop in a walk or drive.
