The Okinawa Saihakken Campaign subsidizes travel packages including overnight accommodation to encourage Okinawa residents to travel within the prefecture and help sustain local accommodation, travel and tourism businesses.
Packages are sold through travel agencies and Japanese online travel agencies. The subsidy covers 80%, with discounts of up to JPY 16,000 for packages combining accommodation with other services.
Accommodation-only bookings made through a travel agency
Sunday–Thursday: up to JPY 8,000 per night
Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays: up to JPY 5,000 per night
The subsidy covers 80% of the accommodation charge, within these limits.
Example: 1 night
Accommodation charge: JPY 7,000
Weekday subsidy: JPY 5,600
Weekend subsidy: JPY 5,000
