The 30th Daikin Orchid Ladies Golf Tournament
The 30th Daikin Orchid Ladies Golf Tournament takes place at Ryukyu Golf Club in Nanjo, Okinawa from March 2–5, 2017.
First held in 1988, the Daikin Orchid Ladies Golf Tournament marks its 30th edition. This popular opening event of the LPGA Tour announces the start of Japan's golf season from Okinawa.
Ai Miyazato Returns After Six Years!
A major highlight is Okinawa-born Ai Miyazato's first appearance in six years. Affectionately known as Ai-chan, she attracted attention as the first professional golfer still attending high school.
Her name Ai is said to have been chosen because it appears near the beginning of the dictionary, reflecting her father's hope that she would reach the top.
A Tournament Marking Its 30th Anniversary
A commemorative logo was created to express the wish to keep moving forward together with Okinawa.
Its two overlapping circles symbolize a bridge between Okinawa and mainland Japan, while the upward design represents endless progress.
Getting to the Venue
By car: 15 km from Naha, about 40 minutes
Road signs are posted at major points. Temporary spectator parking is available during the event; use the Nishihara and Yonabaru Marine Park parking areas.
By bus: Okinawa Bus from Naha Bus Terminal, JPY 660 one way, about 60 minutes
Route 39 Hyakuna Line or route 41 Tsukishiro no Machi Line; get off at Oyakebaru and walk about 10 minutes
By taxi: About JPY 2,500 and 40 minutes from central Naha
