The 17th Ayahashi Kaichu Road Race

The 17th Ayahashi Kaichu Road Race starts at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017. It follows the popular scenic Kaichu Road linking Okinawa's main island with Hamahiga, Henza, Miyagi and Ikei islands.

Under its theme of bridges connecting hearts, dreams and the world, the event crosses the 4.7 km Kaichu Road and offers views of Henza and Hamahiga islands.
The course starts at Yonashiro Sports Park Stadium, crosses Kaichu Road to Hamahiga Island, turns back toward Henza Island, then turns before Miyagi Island and returns to the start. Around 8,000 people participated last year.

Choose from 3.8 km, 10 km or half-marathon courses to match your abilities and join comfortably.
Uruma's Uruurara mascot, traditional hero Urumer and bullfighting warrior Wide, among other colorful characters, will help send runners off.
Enjoy the bridge views and sea breeze as you take part in the road race.

Cross the Spectacular Kaichu Road

Crossing the Kaichu Road, described as one of the longest in the Orient and a popular scenic drive, is exhilarating. Beautiful sea and sky stretch on both sides, with expansive views and fresh breezes that may tempt you down to the beach.

Discover Spiritual Spots Along the Route

Hamahiga Island is known as an island of the gods and a powerful spiritual place. Simply passing through may feel uplifting. Its traditional red-tiled houses offer another calming sight.
